Garnets are gems with a diverse range of colors, and it was once believed that they existed in almost every color except blue. However, blue garnets do exist, and this is the color-change garnet known as Bekily Blue.

It was named after the Bekily mine in Madagascar, where it was discovered in the late 1990s, but since it is not an official gemological name, it is not listed on appraisal reports.

Due to its color-change effect, which is similar to alexandrite, it is sometimes referred to as "Alex-type garnet."

It has a beautiful teal blue color, but its distinctive feature is that when exposed to sunlight or strong light, a shimmering red color can be seen from within the stone.
