Garnet is a gem with a wide range of colors, and it was once said that all colors except blue existed. However, blue garnets do in fact exist, and these are the color-change garnets known as Bekily Blue.

Named after the Bekily mine in Madagascar where they were discovered in the late 1990s, this is not an official gemstone name and therefore will not be listed on appraisal reports.

Due to its color-changing effect, similar to alexandrite, it is sometimes called "Alexandrite-type Garnet."

It features a beautiful teal blue color, but when exposed to sunlight or strong light, a flickering red color becomes visible from within the stone.
