Garnet is a gemstone that comes in a wide variety of colors, and it was once believed that almost every color except blue existed. However, blue garnets do exist, and this is the color-change garnet known as Bekily blue.

It was named after being discovered at the Bekily mine in Madagascar in the late 1990s, but because it is not an official gemstone name, it is not listed on the identification report.

Due to its color-changing effect similar to that of alexandrite, it is also sometimes called "alexite garnet."

It has a beautiful teal-blue color, but when exposed to sunlight or strong light, red flashes can be seen flickering from within the stone.
