This is a beautiful Mikimoto brooch that is very showy and voluminous, expressing a bouquet of flowers with Akoya pearls.

While there are also 18k gold versions, this one is believed to be a 14k gold piece from the Showa era.

When these pearls were cultivated, they were grown over a longer period than modern pearls, so they have a thick nacre and still exhibit a moist, deep luster even after all this time.
