When tilted, the stone displays a beautiful color with a pale violet hue appearing against a blue background.

This is a Yogo sapphire, mined from the Yogo Gulch in Montana, the same state where Montana sapphires are found.
An even rarer and more uncommon gemstone than the Montana sapphire, Yogo sapphires are also distinguished by the fact that they are unheated.

Since the Yogo sapphire mine is now closed, these stones are rare and no longer being produced.
