I was able to acquire a loose Yogo sapphire that my supplier happened to have, and made additional pieces. This was a loose stone I encountered at Tucson this year, so with luck, I might find more next year, but it's generally a difficult gemstone to obtain.

When you tilt the stone, a beautiful pale violet color appears on a blue background.

This is a Yogo sapphire, mined from the Yogo Gulch in Montana, the same state as Montana sapphires. It is even rarer and more uncommon than Montana sapphires. Unlike Montana sapphires, Yogo sapphires are also characterized by being unheated.

Yogo sapphires are now considered a rare stone with no new production, as the mine has closed.

Loose stones are occasionally seen for sale, but jewelry made with them is quite rare, so I highly recommend this piece.
