This is a heart-shaped padlock ring, symbolizing "captive love." Padlock jewelry, popular during the Victorian era, is a romantic motif that has been cherished throughout history.

This particular piece has an unusual design, with a braided front. The heart portion features a screw-like pattern. The padlock's keyhole is purely decorative. The hook should theoretically open and be removable, but currently, it does not open.

The metal is a beautiful, pink-toned gold. Although the hallmark indicates 9K, a Japanese inspection revealed it to be 10K. This kind of slight discrepancy is common with antiques.

Although there are no hallmarks remaining, the buyer who sourced it in the UK stated it was quite old.
