Garnet is a gemstone that comes in a wide variety of colors, and it was once said that almost every color existed except for blue. However, blue garnets actually do exist, and this is the color-change garnet known as Bekily blue.

The name comes from the Bekily mine in Madagascar where it was discovered in the late 1990s, but because it is not an official gemological name, it does not appear on appraisal certificates.

Due to its color-change effect, which is similar to alexandrite, it is sometimes called "alex-type garnet."

It has a beautiful teal blue hue, but it is characterized by flashes of red that appear from within the stone when exposed to sunlight or strong light.
